Poetry Feedback
This world needs more intentional poetry, and I want to help you get your poems into the published realm of work. I offer feedback on batches of 8 poems, as well as full poetry manuscript evaluations. My goal when giving feedback is to help you understand my experience as a reader, point out places of confusion that could use more clarity, and ask you questions that will push your poem to a place of greater significance and impact. I absolutely believe in writing poems in abundance without holding them preciously—throwing words around with abandon is part of the process. But if you’re looking to publish your poetry, it helps to have someone read it and offer a response before a staff reader evaluates its readiness for publication. I’d love to be that intermediate reader for you.
Feedback on 8 poems (no page limit) — $45
Poetry feedback (chapbook, 20-40 pages) — $230
Poetry feedback (full book, 60-80 pages) — $450
Prose Manuscript Evaluations
I offer workshop-style feedback for prose manuscripts, which includes in-line comments and a comprehensive letter addressing craft choices, my reactions as a reader, and edit suggestions. I will engage with your stories and ideas with a critical lens while believing that what you are trying to communicate is fundamentally important. I am most interested in stories about spirituality, art, family, and bodies/movement practices—that isn’t a limitation on the kind of projects I’m interested in, just examples of what I am most personally invested in and believe myself to be a useful reader for. I recommend starting with the 25–30 page option so that we can both get a feel for each other’s work before committing to a larger evaluation.
Manuscript evaluation for 25-30 pages — $250
Manuscript evaluation for 50 pages — $400
Copyediting
I offer limited copyediting services, dependent on availability. Copyediting is strictly line edits with attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. It is important to me that I communicate with writers before such services and understand what stage of revision a manuscript is at; copyediting is most useful at the latest stage, once a piece has been edited for structure, pacing, ideas, etc.
